THE VOICE OF A NATION
I am the soul of over 370 ethnic groups that stood to form a long chain of virtues,
500 languages and more singing a common path of greatness.
I am the voice of the soil, where crops dance to rhythmic songs of the wind.
I am greatness, the smell of petals in the nostrils of the world.
I am the heart of Africa–making shades of acts with our flying colours.
I am the home of monuments —
See how Idanre hill sneaked out to listen to the solemn tune of ogbunike cave.
I am the vegetation of clothed minerals,
The script of ace that never run out of pride…
But this white surface is falling out of shades.
The breeze is getting tinted with blues from the boiling blood that floats on memories.
Of a homeless child who lost his parents to the fierce hands of a riffle,
While I watched officer Bola turn his friend’s belly into path for his bullet to journey.
The voice of hunger, the cry of dryness,
The plight of kids that roam down the street of oblivion.
The hands of bribery and the dinner of bloods,
The eyes of leaders too sharp to see the grief of masses.
Fountains from cries of heritages of our heroes past.
Of youths who seeking for jobs has now become their job,
Of hospitals waiting for “NEPA” to surprise them with light,
Of Bribery and corruption, tribalism and nepotism;
As both keeps fighting for who takes the crown….
This grey patches isn’t my future anyways.
My tomorrow is a slate of golden dreams,
Where the night joins the voices of peace,
Where every man lives in the heart of each man,
Where all tribes dine on the peaceful table of brotherhood,
Where each piece of division is made into mosaic of love,
Where great leader are chosen, and rulers are broken,
Where hemiparetic power supply regains its greatness,
Where bribery and corruption become fading memory in our diary,
Where youths become masters of their own jobs.
This is what I am.
I am— the giant of Africa.
I am indeed the giant of the World,
I am Nigeria.
I am the heart beat of the earth.
